About us:

Stephan Gaudreau, owner and president of Trapeze Arts,  Inc. is a professional flying trapeze artist.  He originally taught circus skills including the Flying Trapeze, as an instructor for Club Med.  After teaching for 6 years, he decided to proceed with his professional performing career.  He was hired as the lead flyer, performing the triple somersault, with the Flying Angels Troupe at Circus Circus in Reno, Nevada and with a number of other flying trapeze acts in the United States. In September of 1992, he was recruited by the San Francisco School of Circus Arts to formalize and direct a Flying Trapeze program.

Trapeze Arts Incorporated under the artistic directorship of Stephan Gaudreau, continues to teach flying trapeze and other Circus arts to adults and children. In addition to classes at the Oakland facility, TAI teaches trapeze and circus arts for corporate events, after school programs, and summer camps.

Stephan continues to perform on the Flying Trapeze. Stephan and Trapeze ArtsTrapeze Lessons, Trapeze Arts, Flying Circus Troupe, Flying Trapeze Incorporated have performed for audiences such as Warner Bros., KQED, the Television Critics Press Tour, American Express, Bechtel, Club Med and the Boise River Festival.   And most recently, they were featured performers on the Ellen Degeneres show.

Trapeze Arts Incorporated has brought the art of the Flying Trapeze to many Special Interest Groups incluging  Corporate Parties - Birthdays - Scouts - Church Groups.

In addition to the recreational aspect of the Flying Trapeze Program, many of Stephan's students are now working in the professional Circus world.

CLASSES FOR ADULTS AND KIDS -
These classes are intended to be exciting and personally
challenging regardless of one's age or skill level.

Flying Trapeze

Fly through the air with the greatest of ease... just like you see in the circus.  During the first class, participants learn the basics.  You'll hang by your knees on a stationary bar, then proceed up the ladder to the flying trapeze!  After practicing a knee hang position for execution and timing, you may even be ready for the end of the class to attempt a catch with our catcher... and this is only the beginning!

Aerial Arts

Static Trapeze - Manipulate your body on and around a stationary bar hung at various heights.  You'll learn positions and tricks, and begin building routines on the trapeze.  The class emphasizes strength, conditioning and flexibility.  More advanced students will focus on form, style and choreography.

Rope/Corde Lisse - Learn to entangle around yourself a rope while executing various positions, wraps and drops.

Tissue - Climbing, wrapping and dropping on an aerial silk - skills are similar to those used on a rope but even more challenging.  Prerequisite a minimum of 10 classes on Rope.

Swinging Trapeze - Swinging trapeze combines static trapeze positions with the dynamics of a swing.  There is no net, but everyone wears a safety harness.  Prerequisite a mimimum of 10 classes in Static Trapeze.

Trampoline

Bounce your way to increased body awareness!  From basic trampoline skills to more advanced twists and revolutions, trampoline classes provide and aerobic workout while developing these skills.

Acro/Handbalancing

The focus of this class is to increase the student's dynamic relationship with the ground and other people, while developing confidence and body awareness. Skills include handstands, partner balancing, and single and partner tumbling.

Conditioning

The emphasis of this class is the development of core strength for all aerial arts and flying trapeze.  This full body workout is accomplished with the assistance of therabands, weights and the trapeze bar.

JUST FOR KIDS
Children's classes are designed to emphasize self-confidence,
while building coordination and physical skills.
