of sailing along the Pacific coast to cruising around the world. Sailing is also a
wonderful way to relax and get away from our sometimes chaotic lifestyle and enjoy the
freedom that the open ocean has to offer.The American Sailing Association (ASA) and US
Sailing are nationally-recognized sailing certification and accreditation programs
incorporated into all of the Pacific Yachting sailing courses. ASA and US Sailing have set
sailing standards and qualifications for basic to off-shore sailing levels.
 Most students that have the ambition and
have completed the Pacific Yachting 6-or-8-day Consecutive Course can accomplish, during
class instruction time, the practical prerequisites for the ASA or US Sailing levels
leading up to bareboat certification. You can challenge all of the testing requirements
for ASA or US Sailing certification at any time.
To earn the ASA and US Sailing Certification, it is required that you pass three
written examinations, in addition to the practical qualifications. Cost of the ASA exams,
two textbooks and log book:
$100.00. For the US Sailing the cost is $135.00
For those who choose not to take the ASA or US Sailing Certification exams, we can give
qualified-bareboat graduates our Pacific Yachting Coastal/Ocean certificate signed by our
US Coast Guard Licensed Skipper. We require that the sailor maintain documented sailing
time at least once every three months to keep our certificate valid. If you are Bareboat
certified through Pacific Yachting and have taken our in house written exams there is no
charge for our certificate.
NOTE: Certain charter companies may require a performance and practical check-out
before
chartering, even if you have ASA or US Sailing certification. We recommend taking a
foreign charter program's practical check-out to familiarize yourself with a new vessel
and location
 Team Challenge
"Team Challenge" is a 3-hour team-building sailing regatta which creates a
unique opportunity for a company to enhance the team spirit of a select group of
participants.
We split up a large group into smaller teams of six sailors per yacht. Our US Coast
Guard Licensed Skipper/ Team Building leader guides and instructs all participants in the
rudiments of sailing and they practice in a fun, teambuilding sailing race. The
participants can use their new skills in the challenge of competition and working together
as a cooperating team. All yachts involved use the team work needed to sail and win the
race.
The results of Team Challenge can build confidence, leadership, trust, and teamwork.

Charters
A US Coast Guard licensed skipper will take your party on board one of our
luxury sailing yachts that are up to 34' in length. Restroom (head) and kitchen (galley)
facilities are located below. Get a feel for sailing on the picturesque Monterey Bay.
Our knowledgeable and supportive staff will give our sailors the education they need to
experience the ultimate pleasure of sailing with respect for the ocean. All of our
instructors are US Coast Guard licensed with qualities of unsurpassed communication
skills, patience, and the ability to connect on a personal level with each individual
student.

Every Wednesday evening from April through October, the Santa Cruz Yacht
Club hosts a fun, not too competitive, sailing race. We are offering two hour Skippered
excursions Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm for up to six passengers per boat. You can help
sail the boat and learn more about sailing. (No experience necessary). We will use our
larger 30' - 34' yachts sailed with our professional USCG Licensed Skippers.Reservations
and deposit required.
