Pilot Training
Los Angeles Helicopters is a nationally-accredited flight training school approved by
the Federal Aviation Administration as a part 141 private training
facility. Our mission is to create a growth environment for all of
our student pilots looking to map out their career path.
Our strong affiliation with helicopter tour companies, heavy lift
companies and commercial operators world wide has awarded Los Angeles Helicopters
preferred status in the area of pilot referrals and placements. Los Angeles Helicopters's dedication towards the production of highly trained industry
ready pilots has earned us this honor throughout the industry. Los Angeles Helicopters
is dedicated to helping our trained pilots meet the minimum flight
requirements and find jobs.
Los Angeles Helicopters is conveniently located at the heart of the Long
Beach Airport (LGB), a class 'D' airspace. Due to its consistent
volume of departing and arriving aircraft, LGB enhances our training
curriculum because it necessitates the focus on tower communication
skills. Our company helipads are strategically placed just moments
away from all three public training pads, which are frequently used
by other training facilities throughout Los Angeles. Because of
this, there is very little commute back and forth to the training
areas. Los Angeles Helicopters is also positioned near fuel trucks, which means that it
will only take moments after a request to obtain fuel. In short, our
proximity to both fuel and training pads is one small, yet
significant way we help create a more productive flight training
service.

Introductory Lessons
* prices exclude fuel surcharge

Los Angeles Helicopters offers three levels of introductory
lessons. Two of our introductory lessons are conducted in the
Robinson R22 two-seat model, and the third is conducted in the
larger Robinson R44 four-seat model. If you are interested in
flying, we recommend an introductory lesson as an excellent way to
see what it's like.
Introductory lessons include:
One Hour R22 Lesson

This lesson is set up with 30 minutes of ground
school conducted at the helicopter explaining how the
helicopter flies, what each control does, how to read the
gauges, what to look for in conducting the pre-flight
inspection and making sure the helicopter is safe to fly.
After ground instruction is complete, you will take to the
air on a 30 minute flight lesson, during which you will take
the controls with the help of your flight instructor to see
what it is like to pilot the helicopter. This flight is
usually conducted at Long Beach Airport and over the local
coast line. Students get the chance to experience most flight
conditions, including straight and level flight, climbs, turns
and descents, plus the most memorable, hovering.
As experienced flight instructors, we have put together the
One Hour Lesson Special as the most comprehensive way for
someone who has never piloted a helicopter to see how it is
done. With the ground school and flight combined, you will
have a basic understanding of how to fly the helicopter.
There is no obligation for you to continue lessons, the
lesson special is offered to give you insight into helicopter
flight. The flight time received does count towards your
license should you wish to continue lessons toward a private
or commercial license.
