To
ensure your comfort on the river, we encourage the following:

Dress in layers for your comfort, synthetics that dry quickly
are recommended. The coast can
be cooler than the areas upriver, which can be up 3 miles inland. Start
with a swimsuit, the water is clean, clear and warms up in summer for
great swimming. (We provide dry bags for extra gear.)
·
Wear shoes that can get wet…river sandals, reef walkers or
tennis shoes.
The Gualala is a gravel-bottomed river.
No bare feet please!
·
Bring a hat with a brim or sun visor.
·
A retainer for prescription eyewear is recommended.
·
Bring drinking water in a plastic container.
·
Come with a sense of fun and adventure!

Boats
are available by reservation year-round, weather and river
conditions permitting.

Seasonal Paddling
Spring
paddling adventures involve current as the river mouth is open to
the sea and some boating experience is recommended.
Summer is
the best time for novice boaters, as the river is calm and
lake-like, but in late summer, boaters may have to portage* over
the shallow spots.
Fall paddlers often
have more water to boat in than in summer, due to our fall
“re-fill” from the sea.
*getting out and
walking in the riverbed, pulling the boats along with drag lines.
Those with mobility issues should check on conditions
first.

Summer
Moonlight Flotillas
Guided
summer moonlight flotillas are offered in summer on full or near
full moons. Our flotillas depend on certain conditions coinciding
for participant’s enjoyment and safety, including weather
conditions, so be sure to call for dates and details.
If possible, we also offer catered dinners on the river
beach. Prior boating experience is recommended. Kids 12 and under
are allowed on an individual basis

ADVENTURE RENTs canoes &
Kayaks
offers
a wide selection of watercraft for all ages and skill levels.
Choose from:
CANOES:
We have two types of canoes, one with two paddling seats and room for up
to two adult passengers on cushions provided for sitting or kneeling, or a
hybrid canoe that takes two paddlers and a third passenger on a middle
seat.
SINGLE
KAYAKS:
We offer comfortable, stable, open cockpit, recreational kayaks for all
sizes of paddlers, kids to large or tall adults.
TANDEM
KAYAKS: All of our double kayaks can accommodate 2 adult or an adult and
child, and some models can take an additional small child on kiddie seat
between the two fixed seats or in front of the forward seat. Extra
large or tall adults are no problem! Be
sure to mention when making reservations. We have boats that will be
comfortable for you.
Note: We allow children 8 years old and over to
paddle solo with parent or guardian’s permission in a group with at
least one adult. Children under 8 years may ride in canoes, tandem, or
even single kayaks with an adult. We have life jackets to fit
toddlers on up.
We also allow dogs in our watercraft, but do not
provide pfd’s for dogs.
How
it Works…
- If possible, make an advance reservation to
ensure the right boats and equipment for your adventure.
- Arrive at our booth about 10 minutes prior to
your scheduled reservation to complete registration paperwork and pay
by cash, check or MC/VI.
- All members of your party will receive a Coast
Guard approved PFD (Personal Floatation Device, AKA life jacket).
Approved PFD’s must be worn at all times by all minors when in
Adventure Rents watercraft.
- High quality dry bags are included in our rentals
for packing lunch, extra clothing or other items. After boating,
please remove all items (or debris) from the drybags and notify our
staff if additional cleaning will be necessary.
- You will be instructed to drive to the parking
lot, park and lock your vehicle (being sure to bring all necessary
items for your river adventure) then walk out to the launch site on
the river beach.
- At the launch site our staff will assist with
loading and launching the boats and will gladly provide instruction to
beginning paddlers.

Adventure
Rents does not rent kayaks for ocean use. However, we are happy to
recommend outfitters on the
Sonoma
and
Mendocino
Coast
who do. We also do not allow boaters to take our canoes or kayaks to
another river without express permission, advance reservations and
approved vehicle transport.

Reservation
Policies
· Reservations are recommended to secure the right
equipment for your adventure and may be made by phone, e-mail or
'snail' mail.
· Customers with reservations are served before
walk-ups!
· Advance reservations are guaranteed with valid
credit card # or deposit payment.
· Advance reservations are required for groups
of 8 or more and will also require a deposit or credit card #
guarantee.

Cancellation
Policy:
· Cancellations 24-48 hrs. ahead = 10% fee for any
reservations we’re not able to rebook.
· Cancellations less than 24 hours = 20% fee for any
reservations not rebooked.
· “No shows” of booked reservations = full price
will be charged unless rebooked.
· If
Adventure Rents Canoes & Kayaks closes due to inclement
weather or adverse river conditions, any paid deposits will be
refunded. However, if
we remain open, the weather and river is considered good enough
for boating and all cancellation policies apply.

Each season, we sell older boats so that we can make room for new
watercraft.
We can also offer packages that include used paddles, pfd’s and dry
bags.
